Payment & Cancellation Policy
Effective Date: July 19th, 2026
TaskNuts is committed to providing a simple, transparent payment experience for both customers and contractors. This Policy explains how payments, cancellations, refunds, and related financial matters are handled through the TaskNuts marketplace.
1. How Payment Works
When requesting a service through TaskNuts, you will be presented with the total cost of the work before the job is offered to contractors.
You will always have the opportunity to review and approve the quoted price before the request is submitted.
Contractors do not negotiate pricing directly through the TaskNuts marketplace for standard marketplace jobs.
2. Payment Authorization
When you approve a job, you authorize TaskNuts to:
Verify your payment method. Place an authorization hold when applicable. Charge the approved amount in accordance with this Policy. Process any approved adjustments or change orders.
3. When Your Card Is Charged
Depending on the type of service requested, TaskNuts may:
Pre-authorize your payment method. Charge your payment method immediately after contractor acceptance. Capture payment upon job completion. Process milestone payments where applicable.
The applicable payment timing will always be displayed before you approve the job.
4. Fixed Pricing
Marketplace jobs are offered to contractors at the price approved by the customer.
This means:
No bidding. No price shopping. No unexpected negotiations after contractor acceptance.
Additional work outside the original scope requires customer approval before additional charges may be processed.
5. Change Orders
If additional work becomes necessary after a project begins:
The contractor must submit a change request through TaskNuts. The customer must approve the additional cost before work proceeds. No additional charges will be processed without customer approval unless required to address an immediate safety emergency.
6. Customer Cancellations
Customers may cancel a request before a contractor accepts the job without charge.
If a contractor has already accepted the job, cancellation fees may apply depending on:
preparation already completed; travel already underway; materials already purchased; scheduling commitments.
Any applicable cancellation fee will be disclosed before cancellation is finalized whenever reasonably possible.
7. Contractor Cancellations
If a contractor cancels an accepted job:
TaskNuts will attempt to match another qualified contractor. The customer may choose to proceed with the replacement contractor or cancel the request. Customers will not be charged contractor cancellation fees.
Repeated contractor cancellations may affect the contractor's Trust Score and marketplace standing.
8. No Shows
If a contractor fails to appear without reasonable notice:
TaskNuts will work to identify another qualified contractor. Customers may request cancellation without penalty.
Repeated no-shows may negatively affect contractor rankings.
9. Refunds
Refund requests are reviewed individually.
Factors considered include:
work completed; documented communications; photographs; contractor documentation; customer concerns; platform records.
Approved refunds are generally returned to the original payment method.
10. Chargebacks
Customers are encouraged to contact TaskNuts before initiating a chargeback.
Submitting a chargeback does not automatically relieve payment obligations if services were properly performed.
TaskNuts may provide documentation to financial institutions regarding completed work and platform records.
11. Taxes
Applicable taxes may be collected where required by law.
Customers remain responsible for any taxes applicable to services purchased through the marketplace.
12. Payment Processing
Payments are securely processed by third-party payment processors.
TaskNuts does not store complete credit card information.
13. Contractor Payments
Contractor payouts are governed by the Marketplace Contractor Agreement.
Customers are not responsible for contractor payout timing.
14. Policy Updates
TaskNuts may update this Policy periodically.
Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of any revised version.
